The Return of Rock Chic – Balmain, a once-dusty Paris fashion house, is taking the fashion world by storm.

I have just read an interesting article in the UK newspaper “The Daily Telegraph” entitled “Hail the return of rock chic.

The article is about “shooting star” Christophe Decarnin, creative director of the once-dusty Parisian house of Balmain. Such is the interest in his extreme rock ’n’ roll designs – think hand-shredded, embroidered jeans, jackets with peaked “tennis ball” shoulders, Eighties body-con dresses with more glitter than a disco ball – the appetite and furore have been dubbed “Balmainia”.

Decarnin’s sexy, abbreviated cocktail dresses have become staples for a legion of actresses – Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Connolly, Diane Kruger – wishing to show off their Pilates-toned legs and sexuality and add some rock ’n’ roll swagger. In contrast, the classic siren gowns and pretty frou-frou frocks of old look positively dull.

Interesting? Then click on The Return of Rock Chic to read the full Hail the Return of Rock Chic article…

Enjoy!
