How to Wear this Season’s Jackets – Trophy jackets are the new status piece…

“This is truly the season of the jacket,” adds Jemma Dyas, buyer at the Browns Focus boutique. “We saw them all over the catwalks in many guises.”

“Trophy jackets are real status pieces and are assuming the position once held by ‘It’ bags,” says Harriet Quick, fashion features director of Vogue, who coined the term. “They transform outfits and slick up anything from jeans to tube dresses. They vary in silhouette, but all are highly decorative and have big identities.”

The top trophy goes to Dolce & Gabbana for their ornate brocade jackets complete with hulk-sized shoulder pads. Fabulous? You bet. Flattering? Maybe not, but if you want something statement-making which screams “fashion”, this is the jacket!
