Coca-Cola Celebrates 125th Anniversary – On May 8, 2011, Coca-Cola marks its 125 th anniversary. Coca-Cola was created on May 8, 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia by Dr. John S. Pemberton and first served at Jacob’s Pharmacy.

It is produced by The Coca-Cola Company of Atlanta, Georgia, and is often referred to simply as Coke (a registered trademark of The Coca-Cola Company in the United States since March 27, 1944). Originally intended as a patent medicine when it was invented in the late 19th century by John Pemberton, Coca-Cola was bought out by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coke to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century.

Coca-Cola Celebrates 125th Anniversary – The Coca-Cola Company Continues to Advance on FORTUNE’s List of World’s Most Admired Companies. The Company advanced to No. 6 on FORTUNE magazine’s annual list of the World’s 50 Most Admired Companies, widely considered to be the definitive report card on corporate reputations.

After moving up seven spots to No. 12 in 2009 and another two slots to No. 10 in 2010, TCCC advanced four slots in this year’s ranking. The Company also topped FORTUNE ‘s beverage industry ranking for the second year in a row.
