Almost 10 per cent of the UK male population - over three million men - are believed to be left handed. Yet men's pants have traditionally had a right handed opening from the time they were invented in 1935.

A number of manufacturers already cater for left-handed people, producing everything from left-handed video cameras, wallets, scissors and pencil sharpeners. But this is the first time the underwear needs of men have been considered.

Hom, the company behind the pants, have been making underwear since 1968 and they claim the underwear will "save left handed men up to three, often vital, seconds when visiting the loo", potentially helping a raft of left-handed men, from American presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama to Uri Geller and Paul McCartney.

Y-fronts and trunks traditionally have a right-handed opening, making it potentially more tricky for left-handed men when they are standing at a urinal. The Hom underwear has an opening slit made horizontally underneath the waistband.

According to the DailyTelegraph.co.uk, one of Spain's leading matadors stepped into the ring on Saturday clad in a made-to-measure costume by the Italian designer, Georgio Armani.

The haute couture traje de luz- or suit of lights- was designed for 32-year-old Cayetano Rivera Ordonez, the latest in a distinguished dynasty of bullfighting aristocrats, to wear in an annual event held in the historic bullring in Ronda, southern Spain.

In the 1950s Pablo Picasso created a suit worn by Rivera's illustrious grandfather, Antonio Ordonez, for the same event.

Armani's skin tight version, an embroidered three piece creation in the designer's favourite shade of griege, complete with a full-length cape lined in scarlet velvet, glittered alluringly in the evening light thanks to a heavy dose of sequins and Swarovski crystals.

Model heiress Lydia Hearst flashes more than a little skin in a new campaign for upscale lingerie brand Myla.

Hearst, 23, works it in a sexy satin camisole, lacy garter and ruffled bra, among other items in the '40s-influenced ads, which will appear in print in December.

The model was chosen for the campaign based on her "amazing dynamic energy coupled with an intelligent sexuality," said Myla creative director Franceska Luther.

"I love the way the images turned out," Hearst told the Daily News on Wednesday. "This season people will be seeing not just my high fashion/couture work, but also a sexier side."
